The primary purpose of Project Arjuna is to transform the fifth and sixth pillars of unwisdom into those of wisdom, recognizing that in our holographic Universe there is no other, that the True Identity of each and every one of us is Wholeness, the union of all opposites.

Project Arjuna is named after Arjuna, the spiritual warrior in the Hindu classic Bhagavad Gītā ‘Song of the Adorable One’. Although this sacred text is set in the Mahabharata, an epic poem describing a war between the Pāndavas ‘sons of Pāndu’ and Kauravas ‘sons of Kuru’ for the ancient throne of Hastināpura taking place perhaps in the first half of the first millennium bce, it is not really about a war between good and evil, as it is sometimes interpreted. For right and wrong are just two sides of the same coin, egoic interpretations of situations in life.

Rather, Bhagavad Gītā is an allegory of our battles between the Nonmanifest and the manifest, between our Authentic Self and the fragmentary identity that we believe that we are. As such, Krishna teaches Arjuna a variety of yogic practices, intended to unify the opposites that cause so much conflict and suffering.

Of course, as it is the purpose of Project Arjuna to become free of the sense of a separate self, it is not its purpose to change anybody or indeed the world for some selfish advantage. As the final chapter of Bhagavad Gītā makes crystal clear, acting with such a purpose would negate the entire enterprise.

So while it is natural to engage in challenging work, it is also essential to be free of egoic attachment to the fruits of that action. This does not mean indifference to the results of these activities. For as Mohandas Gandhi said, much inspired by the Gītā, “He who … is without desire for the result and is yet wholly engrossed in the fulfilment of the task before him is said to have renounced the fruits of his action.”

Yet, in practical terms, our health, well-being, and even survival as long as possible as a species is dependent on us all becoming mystics, living in union with the Divine, forbidden by Western religion, science, and business. So if the children born since the beginning of this century are to have any chance of growing old enough to have children and grandchildren of their own, Western civilization, which provides the cultural context for the global economy, must die within each and everyone of us.

In conformity with the purpose of Project Arjuna, all the Alliance for Mystical Pragmatics can do is make public this expression of Wholeness and wait to see what evolution’s intentions are for us all as a species. For, as Ramana Maharshi wrote to his mother, as 1898 turned into 1899, when she tried to persuade him to return home from Arunachala: “What is not meant to happen will not happen, however much you wish it. What is meant to happen will happen, no matter what you do to prevent it. This is certain.”
