Harmonizing Evolutionary Convergence

Project Heraclitus: Unifying all opposites

The primary purpose of Project Heraclitus is to transform the seventh pillar of unwisdom into that of wisdom by realizing in the depth and breadth of being that Wholeness is the union of all opposites. For it is then, and only then, that we intelligently and consciously live in harmony with the fundamental law of the Universe, called the Principle of Unity.

Project Heraclitus is so-named because Heraclitus of Ephesus was the pre-eminent both-and thinker in ancient Greece, whose ever-changing worldview was only partially accepted by Plato and whose Hidden Harmony was rejected by Aristotle.

So as Western philosophy is a series of footnotes to Plato and as Western thought is still based on the seventh pillar of wisdom, we need to turn to the mystics who know the Truth that sets us free for enlightenment. For we can then transform egoic, conflict-ridden, either-or thinking into an intelligent, cooperative, both-and approach to life.

Not that that either-or thinking is sometimes applicable. But we need to remember that by the Principle of Unity, there is a primary-secondary relationship between the Hidden Harmony and the Law of Contradiction, illustrated here.

Yet, we should not forget that if the axioms of mathematics contain contradictory statements, it would be possible to prove any theorem and its opposite to be true, and the great edifice of mathematics would come crashing down. This situation is amusingly described in this little anecdote:

The analyst G. H. Hardy once made this remark at dinner, and was asked by a sceptic to justify it: “Given that 2 + 2 = 5, prove that McTaggart is the Pope.” Hardy thought briefly, and replied, “We know that 2 + 2 = 4, so that 5 = 4. Subtracting 3 we get 2 = 1. McTaggart and the Pope are two, hence McTaggart and the Pope are one.”

Yes, indeed! McTaggart, the Pope, and all other beings are one, which is Oneness, the other side of the coin from Wholeness, inseparable from it. None of us can return Home to Wholeness, for nobody has ever left Home.

It is in Wholeness that we find Peace, Stillness, and the Presence of the Divine. It is Wholeness that enables us to harmonize evolutionary convergence as evolution completes its fourteen billion-year journey in our neck of the woods. Realizing that we have reached evolution’s glorious culmination, our own journeys in life reach fulfilment and our day’s work is done, as these monks have understood.
